MARCH 2005 - PRACTITIONER TRAINING SPECIAL OFFER

LANCASHIRE AMBULANCE SERVICE CBRN PRACTITIONER TRAINING

LANCASHIRE AMBULANCE SERVICE CELEBRATES THE OPENING OF THE NEW COMMERCIAL TRAINING CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

8 MARCH 2004

Lancashire Ambulance Service NHS Trust is pleased to announce that they have now begun work on a purpose built Pre-Hospital Care training centre in Preston, Lancashire.  The centre is scheduled to be open in August 2005 and to celebrate this exciting development, the Commercial Training Department is offering several promotional offers, one of which is to provide their CBRN PRACTITIONER course at a substantially discounted rate.

Working in partnership with Professional Protection Systems Ltd (PPS), one of the leading suppliers of decontamination equipment, the CBRN PRACTITIONER course enables organisations that have PPS equipment to receive instruction in the correct method of operation. Many organisations have purchased the equipment yet due to their increasingly busy workloads have yet to test the equipment, let alone begin a robust training programme.

Upon completion of the course, delegates will be able to identify all of their equipment, and be competent in the erection and breakdown of decontamination shelters, the installation of generators, blowers, water heaters and associated equipment. The syllabus culminates in a practical exercise allowing all participants the opportunity to practice a mock decontamination scenario.

If you are developing a training and maintenance programme for your PPS equipment, then this training should form an essential part of it. Training courses can also be delivered throughout the UK, and upon request, internationally.

To celebrate the opening of the Training Centre, the following dates have been made available for individual and group bookings:

17th, 18th, 19th, & 20th October 2005.

The normal price for this course is £250 per person, we are offering, subject to our terms and condition of businesses, the course at £100 per person, on a first come first served basis.  This price includes handouts, lunch and refreshments and certificatation from Lancashire Ambulance Service.

Phil Woodford, General Manager for Commercial Services at Lancashire Ambulance Service comments: “Over the past year we have attended different venues around the UK delivering and demonstrating this course.  We realised early on the difficulty that PCT’s have in getting a class of 12 delegates together for this vital training and the ongoing issues surrounding training of new staff, coupled with the difficulty in providing a suitable venue for the equipment to be erected.  The dates that we have published will allow NHS organisations to send their staff, either on their own or in groups to receive this vital training”.

Phil goes onto say: “The training will be delivered at our new purpose built training centre in Preston, where we have the ability to erect the decontamination units and run practical exercises.  The regular price of the course, per person is £250, however we are offering the course for £100 per person during the promotional offer week, this price includes handouts, lunch and refreshments.  Training is delivered by qualified Ambulance Instructors, using the NHS PPS CBRN Decontamination equipment, this price is less than many basic First Aid courses”.

The new training centre is located close to the M6, M65 and M61 interchange and has several hotels within a few minutes drive such as the Holiday Inn Express or Novotel.

Bookings are now being taken for the October dates.  Please contact our Training Administrator, Gemma Ogden for further details or to secure your place:  +44(0)1772 773141 or Gemma.Ogden@las-tr.nwest.nhs.uk.  Additional details are available from http://www.CBRNtraining.com
